The Valentine’s Day is tomorrow, and it’s time to start re-focusing your holiday shopping campaigns with the next holiday in mind. But which one is the next big one? Some would say, St. Patrick’s Day (March 17, 2009). Others would say that it’s Easter (which in 2009 falls on April 12). I say, look beyond the United States!
Did you know that there are also two big holidays celebrated in the rest of the world in March?
First of all, there is the International Women’s Day, which is celebrated on March 8, and is a national holiday throughout most of Eastern Europe, China and Vietnam. It is a day when men honor their mothers, grandmothers, wives, girlfriends and colleagues with flowers and gifts. It is an equivalent of the Mother’s Day in many of these countries, and on this day children give presents to their mothers and grandmothers.
Additionally, it is good to remember that some countries celebrate Mother’s Day long before the North America does. I am referring to the UK and Ireland, which celebrate their Mothering Sunday (also often called the Mother’s Day) three weeks before the Easter Sunday. This year the day falls on March 22.
Flowers and gift delivery services, as well as deals from any merchants that cater to mothers and women, is what affiliates can focus on next.
Best of luck, and happy selling!
